Previous work in hospital, national Opticians and small independent settings has provided Steve with experience in all areas of eyecare including complex contact lenses, diabetic retinopathy screening, pre and post operative cataract assessment, low vision and paediatric eyecare.  He enjoys community eyecare most and the variety it brings.  Steve has also completed further training to gain Independent Prescribing that allows him to treat and manage more eye conditions instead of requiring Hospital treatment.

Coming from a seaside town in Northern Ireland, Steve fell in love with S.Devon and moved here in 2012 with his wife, Sally.

Sally grew up in Devon and after studying Optometry at Cardiff University and working in London moved back to Devon.  After working for Independent Opticians and national chains Sally has gained a lot of experience and knowledge about a wide range of eye conditions.  Working with an OCT eye scanner for many years has meant Sally has detected a huge range of eye conditions using this cutting edge technology.  Sally is registered to perform post operative cataract checks and loves helping people get the most from their vision and choosing a frame style that looks great.

Laura Ashworth FBDO

Dispensing Optician

Laura is a fully qualified Dispensing Optician (FBDO) which means she is skilled in interpreting nyour prescription into a pair of spectacles that provide optimal visual performance. This involves listening to your lifestyle and vocational requirements to enable her to make suitable recommendations on lens type, tints and coatings. Another essential element of dispensing is ensuring the frame is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Laura can help and advise you with frame choice, as a poorly fitting frame can have a negative impact on lens performance. She also believes strongly in seeing you once your spectacles are ready so any necessary adjustments can be made. She has perfected her dispensing skills with 20 years of experience and we feel the knowledge she has gained and her enthusiasm helps set her apart.

When not at work Laura loves walking, running, cycling and cooking. She also enjoys meeting people, so feel free to pop in and say hello, or book an appointment with her where she would be only too happy to discuss any queries you may have about spectacles.
